You may be eligible to take part if you:
- Are between the ages of 18 and 70
- Live in the United Kingdom
AND
- Are not immunocompromised
- Are not taking blood thinners
- Do not have a diagnosis of type 1 diabetes

What happens in the study?
- If you decide to take part, you will be sent a finger prick blood test in the post.
- If the study finds that you’re at risk of developing type 1 diabetes, you will be monitored and given information about what symptoms to look out for to prevent you from becoming seriously unwell.
- You will also receive information on any new clinical trials or treatments that may delay or prevent the condition from developing.

T1DRA has been reviewed and approved by the NHS Health Research Authority (reference number 23/NW/0305).
What causes type 1 diabetes?
Type 1 Diabetes is caused when your immune system mistakenly destroys your body's ability to make insulin. Your body needs insulin to convert the glucose in your food into fuel that your body needs to function and survive.
Type 1 diabetes can develop at any stage in life and is not caused by a high sugar diet.
